Synopsis

In a small shop in the Jewish quarter of Chamberí, the Zusman couple continues their routine amidst boxes, soles, fabrics, and memories. Gersón and Tesy share a life marked by years, faith, exile, and a wound that never fully healed.
One ordinary afternoon, the unexpected visit of a mysterious woman claiming to be the Virgin Mary disrupts the fragile equilibrium of their marriage. What might seem like a simple, absurd anecdote begins to transform into revelation, promise, and conflict. Between Jewish tradition and the intrusion of a foreign faith, between guilt and hope, the couple will be forced to confront what they have been unable or unwilling to name.
The Virgin of the Hummingbird is an intimate tragicomedy about grief, identity, and the human need to believe. With humor, tenderness, and a profound emotional weight, the play invites us to ask ourselves how far we are willing to go to find solace… and redemption.
